Distribution Utilities can play an important role in promotion of SWHS, as they can reduce conventional energy consumption in cities and towns and facilitate peak load shaving. Most States are facing peaking and energy shortages and thus any Demand Side Management (DSM) measure can assist in providing better and more efficient energy services.

Karnataka renewable energy policy 2009-14
