Worried over the rising prices of liquiefied petroleum gas (LPG) and the unavailability of natural gas, some enterprising industrialists of Agra have come up with an innovative solution to tide over their fuel supply problems.

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Wednesday ordered notice on a writ petition by a panchayat ward member in Coimbatore district, seeking a direction to authorities for collecting taxes and other revenues from 10 companies that had set up a windmill project in his village.

HOUSTON: For all the support that the U.S. presidential candidates are expressing for renewable energy, alternative energies like wind and solar are facing big new challenges because of the credit freeze and the plunge in oil and natural gas prices.

The government will launch a two-month campaign from November to popularise renewable energy and create awareness about energy conservation across the country.

This was decided yesterday at a meeting of the steering committee on renewable energy and energy conservation at Power and Energy Ministry.

Britain will adopt a more severe target to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, increasing this to 80 percent from 60 percent, newly installed Energy and Climate Minister Ed Miliband said on Thursday.
