Scaling up rural sanitation: findings from the impact evaluation baseline survey in Madhya Pradesh, India

Efforts to monitor and verify the success of rural sanitation initiatives face many challenges. In India, WSP is conducting baseline surveys that lay the groundwork for in-depth impact evaluations (IEs) to establish the causal impacts of sanitation improvements on specific health and welfare measures. This technical paper reports on the results of a baseline survey conducted in Madhya Pradesh, assessing the current success rate of sanitation initiatives and identifying areas needing further improvement.
