Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Action Against Industrial Units Polluting Ganga, 05/12/2016. CPCB has monitored 764 Grossly Polluting Industries (GPIs) in the five Ganga states during August, 2011 to September, 2016 out of which 583 units were found non-complying and have been issued directions under Section 5 of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. During the year 2014-15, 24 directions were issued under Section 5 of E(P) Act, 1986 whereas during 2015-16, 468 directions were issued.
