Question raised in Lok Sabha on Restoration of Water Bodies, 05/12/2019. A total of 7,98,908 water bodies (size more than 0.01 ha) have been mapped under India- WRIS project using Satellite Imageries. State-wise detail is enclosed as Annexure. Further, as per the 5th Minor Irrigation Census conducted by this Ministry, there are 5,16,303 water bodies in the rural areas of the country being used for irrigation.
