Question raised in Lok Sabha on Coastal Zone Management Plan, 02/08/2016. Coastal Zone Management Plans (CZMPs) of coastal States and Union Territories (UTs) approved by the Government of India in 1996 are in force till January, 2017. The Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification, 2011 and Islands Protection Zone (IPZ) Notification, 2011 mandate preparation of revised CZMPs for coastal States and UTs. To facilitate preparation of CZMPs, the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Chennai has demarcated the High Tide Line. The mapping of ecologically sensitive areas has been completed. Integrated Island Management Plans (IIMPs) for ten islands in Lakshadweep have been approved. Developmental activities in CRZ areas are to be regulated as per the approved CZMPs/ IIMPs.
