The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has finally notified guidelines for diversion of forest for laying transmission lines through forest areas. It may be recalled that the National Green Tribunal in its judgement in Janajagarithi Samiti versus Union of India and Others (Appeal No. 10 of 2012) related to transmission line passing through forest in Western Ghats had directed for the same, way back in March 2012.
