The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on November 07, 2023, issued the Central Motor Vehicles (Ninth Amendment) Rules, 2023 to further amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. The following amendment has been stated: After rule 125-L, the following rule shall be inserted, namely: 125M. Type approval of electric power train vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles: - electric power train vehicles, including pure electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles, strong hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, series hybrid electric vehicles, series-parallel hybrid electric vehicles, shall meet type approval requirements as specified in the Table specified under rule 124.
