MOEF order on POSCO dated April 14, 2011

This MoEF directive held back forest clearance to the POSCO project in Orissa. It has rejected state government’s assurance that there are no tribals in the area, where the 52,000 crore rupee steel-cum-captive power plant is to come up.
On January 31st 2011, Shri Jairam Ramesh had issued a "speaking order" on the proposed project of POSCO in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha comprising of (1) an integrated steel-cum-captive power plant; and (2) a captive minor port.
