Tehran has ratified the Chemical Weapons Convention, a new treaty banning the production and possession of nerve gas weapons. The treaty subjects all signatories to mandatory international inspections. Countries that do not join the treaty will be gradually excluded from selling conventional chemicals such as pesticides. So far, 104 countries have agreed to participate in the international control and inspection system established by the treaty.
