Quality of ground water used for irrigation in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh, India

The ground water samples collected from different tehsils of Ujjain district were analysed in the laboratory for electrical conductivity (EC), pH, cations (Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+) and anions (CO32-, HCO3-, Cl- and SO42-). The ground water quality map of the district was generated using ERDAS-IMAGINE 8.7 software showing different categories.

Biomethanation of vegetable wastes

Batch digestion of vegetable waste slurry was carried out in the laboratory using 2.5L capacity bottle reactors for 60 days at ambient conditions. The biogas yield from vegetable waste over the length of the digestion time was observed to be 0.391L/g of VS fed.

Water quality index and suitability of the water of Kohargaddi dam at district Balrampur, India

The physico-chemical characteristics of Kohargaddi dam water were studied during July 06-June 07. Seasonal variations in water quality parameters in rainy, winter and summer seasons. The result revealed that there were significant seasonal variations in some physico-chemical parameters. The result indicated poor status of water during summer, rainy and winter season.

Captive coal block allotment: Is the policy effective enough?

There are 229 identified coal blocks for allocation to specified end users and government companies on display on the website of Ministry of Coal. Till May 2008, as many as 182 coal blocks have been allocated to eligible companies. So far, production has commenced only in 13 blocks.
