The energy need of the populace is increasing by the day, whereas the conventional source of energy is insufficient to meet the rising demand, Thereby adversely affecting the environment as well. Therefore there is an urgent need to develop and exploit non-conventional and renewable sources of energy in the state.

This bill provides for the constitution of a Lokpal Authority which will be independent of the public officials and public authorities that it will be empowered to investigate and prosecute. In a surprising turn of events, the Indian delegation agreed to the listing of chrysotile asbestos in the Annex III of the Rotterdam Convention which is the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) list.
