Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (Bhutan)
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests was established in April 1985 in His Majesty’s Secretariat in April 1985. Dasho Leki Dorji, Secretary to His Majesty’s Secretariat, was the head of the newly established ministry. The newly established ministry was detached from His Majesty’s Secretariat in 1986 and moved to its present offices. Leki Dorji continued as the Secretary of the ministry.

Central Environmental Authority (Sri Lanka)
The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) was established in August 1981 under the provision of the National Environmental Act No:47 of 1980. The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (ME&NR) which was established in December 2001 has the overall responsibility in the affairs of the CEA with the objective of integrating environmental considerations in the development process of the country. The CEA was given wider regulatory powers under the National Environment(Amendment) Acts No:56 of 1988 and No:53 of 2000.

Delhi Pollution Control Committee
Under Section 4 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Section 6 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) is empowered to perform the functions of the State Pollution Control Board for all Union Territories. However, Section 4(4) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Section 6 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 provides that CPCB may delegate all or any of its powers and functions of a State Board in a UT under the said Acts to such person or body of persons as the Central Government may specify. The CPCB has delegated all its powers and functions as a State Board in respect of the UT of Delhi to a committee of officials as specified by the Central Government in March, 1991. This committee has been reconstituted on 14th June 2002 vide notification No. B-12015/7/92-AS.

West Bengal Pollution Control Board
West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) is a statutory authority entrusted to implement environmental laws and rules within the jurisdiction of the state of West Bengal, India. WBPCB was constituted immediately after the enactment of the first major environmental legislation of the country, the Water (Prevention and Control of Water Pollution) Act, 1974. During its twenty-eight years of life, the Board tried its best to ensure proper implementation of the statutes, judicial and legislative pronouncements and to fulfill the needs of the people. Initially set up to implement the provisions of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, subsequently, WBPCB was given the responsibility of implementing a series of other environmental Acts and Rules.

Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board
The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board is a body corporate constituted under section 4 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. It was first constituted on 7th February 1975, with the objectives of prevention, and control of water pollution and maintaining or restoring of wholesomeness of water. Later, it was also entrusted with the responsibilities of prevention, control and abatement of Air Pollution under the provisions of Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Cess Act, 1977 has been enacted to make the State Board financially independent. Under this act the State Board has been given powers to collect Cess on the basis of water consumed by the industries etc.

Punjab State Pollution Control Board
The Punjab Pollution Control Board was constituted in the year 1975 vide Punjab Government Notification No. 6186-BR II (4) 75/24146 dated 30.07.1975, after the enactment of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 to preserve the wholesomeness of water. Subsequently, with the enactment of other environmental laws the responsibility to implement the provisions of such laws was also entrusted to the Punjab Pollution Control Board in the State of Punjab.

Orissa State Pollution Control Board
The Orissa State Prevention and Control of Pollution Board was constituted in pursuance to subsection (1) of Section- 4 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 1974, vide Notification No.1481-VII-HI-11/83 (Vol. II)-S.T.E., dated 15.07.1983 after the Orissa Legislative Assembly adopted the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. The Board was re-designated as State Pollution Control Board, Orissa vide Notification No. Env-E(F)/8/99/1882 F&E, dated 16.07.1999 of the Forest and Environment Department, Govt. of Orissa.

Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board
The State Board for Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, Meghalaya was constituted by the Government of Meghalaya on the Sixteenth Day of November, Nineteen Eighty Three in pursuance of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. After the enactment of the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, the enforcing responsibility of the Act was entrusted to the Board. The Board was later renamed as Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board in 1988. The functions of the Board are as laid down under Section 17 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Section 17 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.

Karnataka State Pollution Control Board
The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board for Prevention and Control of Water Pollution was constituted by the Government of Karnataka on The Twenty First of September Nineteen Seventy Four (21.9.1974) in pursuance of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 . The Water Act will provide for the prevention and control of water pollution and maintaining or restoring of wholesomeness of water. After the enactment of the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 the enforcing responsibility was entrusted to the above Board. As such, the Board was later renamed as the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board in 1985 . The Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 is an enactment to provide for prevention , control and abatement of air pollution.

Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board

Department of Forests & Park Services, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Bhutan
The Department of Forests (DoF) was established in 1952, way before the start of FYPs. In 1961 the DoF was under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Forest, while Department of Agriculture (DoA) and Department of Animal Husbandry (DoAH) were under the Ministry of Development (MoD). Based on the cadre system introduced by RCSC in early 1980s, the Ministries and Departments were reorganized. As a result the MoA was made responsible for forestry, agriculture, and animal husbandry.

Gujarat State Pollution Control Board
The Government of Gujarat constituted the Gujarat Pollution Control Board on 15.10.1974 with a view to protect the environment, prevent and control the pollution of water in the State of Gujarat, that occupies a prominent niche in progressive and industrial development of the country. The Board has been over the years entrusted with the Central Acts and relevant Rules for pollution control as notified thereof from time to time.
Central Pollution Control Board
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), statutory organisation, was constituted in September, 1974 under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. Further, CPCB was entrusted with the powers and functions under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. It serves as a field formation and also provides technical services to the Ministry of Environment and Forests of the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. Principal Functions of the CPCB, as spelt out in the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, (i) to promote cleanliness of streams and wells in different areas of the States by prevention, control and abatement of water pollution, and (ii) to improve the quality of air and to prevent, control or abate air pollution in the country.
Central Arid Zone Research Institute
Desert Afforestation Station was established in 1952 at Jodhpur. This was later expanded into Desert Afforestation and Soil Conservation Station in 1957, and finally upgraded to Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI) in 1959 under Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. The CAZRI operates through 7 Divisions, located at the headquarters in Jodhpur. There are four Regional Research Stations located in different agro-climatic zones to work on location-specific problems. The main objective of the organisation is to undertake basic and applied researches that will contribute to the development of sustainable farming systems in the arid ecosystem and to act as repository of information on the state of natural resources and desertification processes and its control.
G B Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development
G. B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development was established in August 1988, at Kosi-Katarmal, Almora, as an autonomous institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. The Institute is identified as a focal agency, to advance scientific knowledge, to evolve integrated management strategies, demonstrate their efficacy for conservation of natural resources and to ensure environmentally sound development in the entire Indian Himalayan Region (IHR). Apart from undertaking research and technology development and/or demonstration on its own, the Institute has established linkages with National and International Organizations committed to environment and development linked issues in the mountain regions.
