Smart cities mission: an evaluation - Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs (2023 24)

Some projects under the Smart Cities Mission would not be able to meet the June 30 deadline and the respective state governments would be responsible for completing them thereafter, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary told the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs. In its report on the evaluation of the Smart Cities Mission presented in the Lok Sabha, the committee said the ministry had informed it that 400 projects, out of the 7,970, worth Rs 22,814 crore would take beyond December 2024 to complete. Last year, the Ministry had extended the mission’s deadline from June 2023 to June 2024.
