Calcutta: the killing streets

Calcutta has the dubious distinction of being placed sixth among the 41 most polluted cities of the world when it comes to spm levels, according to Global Pollution and Health , a report published in 1996 by who and the United Nations Environment Programme (unep). The figures speak for themselves. While the acceptable annual average level of spm by who standards is 60
