Removal of arsenic from wastewaters using electrocoagulation

The performance of electrocoagulation method with aluminium, iron and hybrid A1/Fe sacrificial anodes in the treatment of arsenite [As9III) and arsenate(As(V)] in pharmaceutical industrial effluents was investigated. Several working parameters, such as pH, current density, contact time and metal ion concentration were studied in attempt to achieve optimum removal efficiency.

Fish is an important item of food to almost all the people (about 95 per cent) of Tripura. There were about 93,870 fish farmers in the state during 2001-02. The present average production from culture fish in the state is very low which needs to be increased to make the state self-sufficient in fish production.

While it is true that hybrid seeds give more yields in the beginning, the use of chemical fertilizers results in reduced crops after a few years and leaves the farmers in crisis situations.

Pollutional status of Kawar wetland (Begusarai) North Bihar with special reference to their effects on flora, fauna

In the present study the pollution of a major North Bihar lake, the Kawar Wetland was studied with special reference to their effects on flora, fauna and local human population. The water of the lake is turbid, acidic and is having higher conductivity. The dissolved oxygen level was estimated as 7.6 mg/L, free CO2 6.3 mg/L, bicarbonate 80 mg/L, hardness 90 mg/L, chloride 17.0 mg/L.
