Question raised in Rajya Sabha on MSP for Agricultural Produces, 21/07/2017. Price of agricultural produce is determined by market forces of demand and supply. However, Government fixes Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for twenty two (22) major crops viz. Paddy, Jowar, Bajra, Maize, Ragi, Arhar, Moong, Urad, Groundnut-in-shell, Soyabean, Sunflower, Sesamum, Nigerseed, Cotton, Wheat, Barley, Gram, Masur (Lentil), Rapeseed/Mustardseed, Safflower, Jute and Copra and Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for Sugarcane on the recommendation of the Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP). The MSPs fixed by Government since 2007-08 is given at Annexure.
