Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Giriraj Parikrama Sanrakshan Sansthan & Others Vs Department of Environment & Forests & Others dated 27/06/2019 regarding delay in the constitution of a Shrine Board for three temples of Govardhan - Jatipura, Dhanghati and Mansi Ganga.

The NGT directed A.K Avasthi, Additional Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh to file an affidavit on the steps taken for the constitution of a Shrine Board and the reasons and difficulties which prevented the Uttar Pradesh government from not constituting a Shrine Board till now. The bench of Justice Raghuvendra S. Rathore and expert member Dr. Satyawan Singh Garbyal observed that this is one of the instances which shows that management of temples is being done for self interest and emphasised that the constitution of the Shrine Board would solve many problems which would include proper supervision and management of the temple including hygienic conditions and preventing pollution of the environment.

The order also called for regulating traffic and provision of sewage connection for the houses at Govardhan town which are around 2600 in number.
