Question raised in Lok Sabha on Street Vendors, 12/12/2019. As informed by the States/UTs, the number of street vendors identified so far is 11,56,460. In order to protect rights of urban street vendors, regulate street vending activities and to ensure uniformity in legal framework for street vending, the Government has enacted the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014.
