Integrating gender considerations in Ethiopia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process: analysis and recommendations

sheeja's picture

It is broadly recognized that the impacts of climate change will have disproportionate impacts on some members of communities and societies, and gender is one factor that influences vulnerability to climate change. As countries advance their NAP processes, the integration of gender considerations becomes increasingly important. In response, the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Commission (EFCCC), the lead organization for the NAP process in Ethiopia, has undertaken a targeted gender analysis to inform implementation of NAP-ETH. This report provides a summary overview of the issues emerging from this analysis. It is designed for stakeholders in Ethiopia who will be involved in implementation of adaptation actions, as well as for actors in other countries who are interested in gender issues as they relate to NAP processes.
