Water samples from Gaula river and water accumulated in the tension cracks of the nearby hill side which are prone to slide due to complex geotechnical problems and later converge in the river near Amiya village, Nainital district, Uttaranchal, have been analysed geochemically, in order to understand the quality of water and level of contamination.

Kolar reservoir is a second source of water supply for drinking purpose of Bhopal city. The Kolar dam water is polluted by man made activities kinds, that is sewage waters and natural contaminants.

Developed to promote human health and well being, certain pharmaceuticals are now attracting attention as a potentially new class of water pollutants. Little is known about the occurrence, transport, fate, accumulative, and/or long-term effects of pharmaceuticals and other personal care products following their end use.

Surface and groundwater pollution in the mining and industrial area is a growing concern. Jharia Coalfield is one of the biggest coalfield and highly industrialized area in India. A study was undertaken in some of the coal mining and industrial areas in this coalfield to assess the quality of surface and groundwater.

The present study aims at the assessment of water quality in Mallapura tank of Chitradurga, Karnataka. The physico-chemical parameters of the Mallapura tank has been studied monthly during the year October 2004 to September 2005 from one site. The results revealed that most of the water quality parameters are not within the permissible limit as per WHO and BIS standards.
