Ambient air and noise pollution levels-Deepawali 2015

This year, the CPCB has attempted to coordinate monitoring of ambient noise levels at more than 200 locations and ambient air quality at about 170 locations across the country. The compiled data shall be published as CPCB does every year. In Delhi, Ambient Noise was monitored at 16 locations and Ambient Air Quality at 09 locations. The monitoring was carried out on November 05, 2015 to compare the data of Deepawali day.

Crime in India 2014 statistics (covers environment related crimes)

India had reported over 5,800 environment related crimes last year with maximum over 83% of it being recorded for violation of the Forest Act, 1927 where the offenders were booked for illegally cutting trees in forest areas and transiting forest produce without required permission. The figures of environment related crimes in the country, compiled for the first time by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) of the home ministry, reveal that over 8,600 persons were arrested in connection with alleged violation of all these environment related laws in 2014.

Rural Health Statistics 2014-15

The rural health care infrastructure in the country is not sufficient to meet the current population norm, according to Rural Health Statistics 2014-15 released by the government. The figures of rural health infrastructure in tribal areas indicate that there is a shortfall of 6,796 sub-centers, 1,267 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and 309 Community Health Centres (CHCs). While the sub-centres, PHCs and CHCs in rural areas have increased in number in 2014-15, the current numbers are not sufficient to meet their population norm, the report says.
