Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Birendra Singh Vs Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MOEF) & Others dated 24/04/2019 regarding the criteria and standard to determine what constitutes "deemed forest" for the purpose of the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 for Uttarakhand. It had come to the knowledge of the SC that the draft criteria has been lying with the MoEF since 2014. The SC directs the MoEF to inform the Court the steps taken to finalise the said criteria and standards.
