Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rajiv Dutta Vs Union of India & Others dated 17/07/2018 regarding large scale unchecked damage to the environment on account of forest fires specially in the States of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Counsel for the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change states that when instances of forest fires came to notice immediate action was taken. The issue being of continuing nature and polices have to be reviewed from time to time so as to ensure that as far as possible such incidents are avoided. Those at the helm of affairs as well as by the general public in the concerned areas have to deal with the situation. The issue of displacement of animal habitats on account of may also need to be looked into by the concerned authorities. NGT was also informed of the website created for the purpose of dissemination of information. Also the Chief Conservator of Forest in every State is the Nodal Officer to monitor every incident, the Ministry has also created an ‘App’ for faster communication.
