Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sandeep Kumar Singh Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 14/02/2019 regarding illegal sand mining in rivers Kane, Yamuna, Bangey in Banda district, Uttar Pradesh. The mining is allegedly being done without the Environment Clearance by splitting the lease area to avoid the regulatory regime. 50 hectares area has been spilt up to less than 25 hectares.
NGT directs a Joint Committee to be constituted comprising of State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) UP, Central Pollution Control Board and Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and submit a factual and action taken report within one month.
